DAY 1. Preparations in the UN, for Haiti Air Support.

It was 2 a.m., last night. When calls from the UN headquarters where made to gain open access to fuel supply, official clearance from the military and customs, All the efforts necessary to create the aerial bridge from Higuero airport to Puerto Principe. Needed to send support to Haiti.

Government officials from the IDAC, Jose Thomas Perez were present, UN Officials and volunteers where working . Franklin Polanco cell phones batteries where draining from all the calls coordinating details and help.

5,000 food bags where assembled in Carrefour by military volunteers. Trucks where redirected to the Higuero Airport. News that all roads to Haiti were closed. Drops must be done by air.

Douglas Bournigal and Col. Sosias are coordinating an early helicopter rescue using google earth to assess the terrain in cuestion. Maybe land on the roof of the house. If still exists.

At 4 a.m. the fuel supply for rescue helicopters are confirmed, customs are cleared and people go home to meet at sunrise in the airport.  And begin the support efforts.
