In order to attract hundreds of thousands of private pilots from the United States that every year they carry out more than 60 thousand flights through the Caribbean islands, the Airport Department along with other official and private sector agencies participated in the Aviation event AirVenture 2019, which was held in the city of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in the United States.
The Executive Director of the Airport Department, Lic. Marino A. Collante Gómez, informed that the airport sector promotes a public-private initiative to promote International private and executive aviation tourism, from and to the Republic Dominican, seeking to attract this important segment of tourism, to establish the country as a key destination in vacations or investment programs for travelers who visit the Dominican Republic.
“In this year 2019, the Airport Department has received and has given the facilities to four Fly In with dozens of private pilots from the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, who have used our different airport terminals to enter the country and enjoy the main tourist destinations that our island has ”.

The official also highlighted security in tourist destinations and excellent conditions in which Dominican airports are to receive aerial operations from all over the world.
Along with Collante Gómez, Alejandro Herrera, Director of the Civil Aviation Instituo (IDAC) also participated, Luis Ernesto Camilo, President of the Civil Aviation Board. General Aracenis Castillo del Cruz, Director of the Airports Specialized Security Corps and Civil Aviation and Marianela Pina, Director of the Office of Tourism Promotion of the Dominican Republic in Chicago.
The Dominican delegation was also composed of pilots belonging to the Aeroclub Quisqueya de Santiago and the Dominican Aeroclub 74 of Santo Domingo. Dominican Republic is visited by 7 million tourists, of which 2.5 million are of the United States, which consolidates the country as one of the preferred destinations in the Caribbean.

EAA AirVenture 2019, is organized by the Experimental Aviation Association, EAA, is the largest general aviation exhibition in the world, where more than 10 thousand aircraft and is visited by more than half a million aviation enthusiasts. This year commemorated its 50th anniversary.
The Dominican State has recognized the importance of private aviation in an island country like ours, for tourism and economic development, and therefore has given all the priority and instructions to improve and create operational systems, giving full support to both the private sector and state agencies to stay ahead with the main transport with the world, as is aviation.
