Victor Pichardo, the director of the Airport Department (DA), recently supervised the ongoing construction and renovation of three helipads located in Santo Domingo and Monte Plata province. These helipads will become part of the National Helipad Network (RNH), a project designed to handle emergency situations.
During the inspection at the helipad in the Dr. Evangelina Rodríguez Perozo Medical City in North Santo Domingo, Pichardo emphasized the project’s significance and its role in improving hospital emergency services.
“The key aspect of this new infrastructure, which is being built on the grounds of Ney Arias Lora Hospital and is 90% complete, is the essential support it will provide to our country’s hospital system as part of the National Helipad Network,” he said, accompanied by Julio Landrón, director of the trauma hospital.
He explained that this helipad, featuring a 22 by 22 square meter platform, includes advanced lighting systems for aircraft connectivity, an elevator for stretcher patients, a ramp for those with special needs, and other modern amenities.
Pichardo highlighted that this project, along with the completed helipad in Monte Plata, “reflects President Luis Abinader’s vision to ensure public health through a comprehensive transformation of the emergency and hospital system.”
Regarding the Santo Domingo Helipad, Pichardo noted the completion of the perimeter fence, which enhances operational security, and a new parking area.
Joining Pichardo on the tour were members of the DA’s technical team, including Cristiern Broberg, Director of Airport Design; Alfredo Aybar, Head of Infrastructure; Rafael Duarte, Head of the Airport Supervision Division; Vianca Matos, Head of Project Supervision and Monitoring, and other key engineers involved in the project.
