DAY 3- Higuero Operations Centre Report 2:03PM

Higuero Airport UPDATE

In a phone conversation with Robbie Senderovich, Representative of World Bank in the Dominican Republic . Who just landed from a 2 helicopter rescue mission to Haiti, we learn that:  World Bank Rescue flight sucessfully brought back 4 World Bank  employees from their haiti branch.  Who were eager to start working in the reconstruction of Haiti.

Mr. Senderovich report long list of airplanes @PortPrincipe Airport, and also waiting lines for refueling. He also confirmed that World Bank is providing  US$100 million in donations.

He also wanted to give special thanks to private pilots in Higuero, helping with the support efforts and specially to dominican pilot Oscar Imbert for his support. “More pilots, planes and helicopters are needed”  was his call to the general aviation community.

The 2 helicopter mission, also took to Haiti personnel from United Nations, who are helping coordinate the efforts from the Dominican Republic. The UN Mission in Dominican Republic is led by Valerie Julian.

Whether helping international pilots plan Caribbean adventures, supporting aviation organizations, mentoring young aviators, or promoting Dominican aviation abroad, he believed aviation was ultimately about people.

His influence reached far beyond the cockpit.

His work earned recognition from the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), which honored him by naming the main auditorium of the Higher Academy of Aeronautical Sciences (ASCA) after him, recognizing his extraordinary contribution to Dominican aviation.
